Peter Leech Memorial Prize

Applicants for the Peter Leech Memorial Prize must be trainees registered in the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Surgical Education and Training Program in Neurosurgery. The research presented may be of a clinical or scientific basis. It is expected the research presented will have been wholly or substantially undertaken by the applicant, although it is accepted that clinical research will necessarily involve surgical procedural work performed by neurosurgeons or by the applicant whilst under supervision.  All applicants who nominate for entry to the Prize and satisfy the eligibility requirements will be scored using pre-determined criteria. The top three applicants will be shortlisted as finalists to present at the NSA Annual Scientific Meeting. A panel of three neurosurgeons will be appointed to score the finalist presentations.

The Prize will be for $5,000 with the winner announced during the Annual Scientific Meeting.

Andrew Kaye Poster Prize

Applicants for the Andrew Kaye Poster Prize must be registrars, residents, medical students, SET trainees, allied health professionals or equivalent. Consultant neurosurgeons are not eligible to apply for the Prize. Applicants for the Prize must have submitted an abstract for the Annual Scientific Meeting. The Research Committee will consider the abstracts submitted and select the top six ranked applicants to present a poster for the Prize. If two or more applicants are ranked equally, the number of finalists will be increased to accommodate the equally ranked applicants. The poster must be displayed in the designated display area and must remain on display for the duration of the Annual Scientific Meeting. The author of the poster must be personally present at the Annual Scientific Meeting. A panel will be appointed to score the poster presentations. Each applicant selected for a poster will be allocated a judging time slot for their poster. During the allocated judging time slot, the applicant must remain beside their poster and will be required to provide a maximum three-minute poster side presentation and then answer any questions from the panel.

The Prize will be for $1,000 with the winner announced during the Annual Scientific Meeting.
