FULL MEMBERSHIP CATEGORY

 

Eligibility

Full Members must, at the time of their election to membership:

 

1. hold the Diploma of FRACS in the specialty of neurosurgery; and
2. have been a Provisional Member of the Society for not less than two (2) years; and  
3. hold a neurosurgical appointment at a hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine of a University of Australasia; or a hospital with a surgical training post included in approved surgical training programs; or a major hospital approved by the Society which provides neurosurgical services; and
4. are engaged full‑time in the practice of neurosurgery, except where population restrictions in remote areas under rule 19(3)(c) above make this requirement impracticable; and
5. have received adequate training in neurosurgery in the opinion of the Board of the NSA and is in good standing in the neurosurgical community;
6. Notwithstanding 1 to 5 above, persons, without the above qualifications, may be elected under exceptional circumstances without dissent at a general meeting.

Entitlements

Full Members are entitled to:

 

1. Attend all scientific meetings of the NSA at the discounted membership rate for 2008; and
2. Receive the quarterly NSA newsletter; and
3. Attend and vote at all scientific and business meetings of the NSA; and
4. Vote in all postal ballots; and
5. Have access to all restricted areas of this website; and
6. Be the sole class of member entitled to nominate or second any person to any class of membership of the NSA; and
7. Be the sole class of member entitled nominate for or second members to the Board of the NSA; and
8. An annual subscription to the Journal of Clinical Neuroscience as part of their membership.

Subscriptions

The subscription fees for 2008, in AUD exclusive of GST, are as follows:

Australian Full Members	$550
New Zealand Full Members	$275

 

Nomination & Election

Election of Full Members, with the exception of those elected under item 6 in the above eligiblity, shall be determined by a simple majority vote of members present at a general meeting of members. Those elected under item 6 must be elected without dissent at a general meeting. This is for exceptional circumstances only. A copy of the nomination form is avaialble below.
